Ha,ha,ha! The joke is on us. We only needed to take out one of the two fuel cans we own and it is even twice too big.
Labuan is a duty free zone here in Borneo and as our friend Jap told us in advance 'it is easier to buy 100 liters of Johnny Walker in Labuan than 100 liters of fuel'. I admit that I did not believe him until I arrived at the Shell station and was only allowed to buy less than 12 liters.
Apparently fuel is subsidized here and fair enough that we would not be allowed to buy hundreds of liters of such product when we do not pay taxes. But it would be good if they had some kind of plan B for people like us who might sincerely need considerable amount of fuel.
It sure is going to be weird to start every day trotting over to Shell with my can to get the daily allowance of less than 12 liters, when we need almost 400 liters. And I have still to learn whether I will be allowed to buy those few liters every day - hmm?
There is the question of going over to Brunei where they actually meet this need of boaters and make it possible to buy fuel in bulk, if all goes well and we are ready to leave long before I have managed to fetch the needed amount of fuel, we might just do that.
