We were not eager to set anchor in 20 meter or so with P. Tenggul (04.48.527 - 103.40.632) on October 21st, but weather was calm and forecast was for continuing calm. It was not just that the salt water was too deep for our comfort, we were also a very short distance from the sandy beach and even a shorter distance form a row of small moorings with long strings meant for diver boats and other small tourist boats who come to this gem of a place from other islands.
The water around P. Tenggul is crystal clear, there are a lot of corals and wonderful sea world to be enjoyed there. But in the right light it is easy for us to see where there is sand, so we do not harm corals by setting anchor on them.

LaBarque came in after we had settled and there was already one boat in the anchorage when we arrived. Hence there was not much room and all three boats departed at daybreak after crews flimsy sleep and none of us were keen on leaving the boats there and go ashore.
Kári was sitting in the cockpit at dusk when all of a sudden I heard him calling and running back and forth on the boat. Upon inspecting what made my husband behaving thus I saw the weirdest scene. Little (Swift) birds kept coming and practically sitting down on our cat. Those little guileless avian's did not seem to know to be afraid of people and cats, Kári had to literally PUSH some of the little creatures away, while the cat was having the time of her life, but not quite knowing how to handle the situation. As far as we saw, none of the little birds got hurt and after it got completely dark they stopped coming. The weird thing is that they seemed only interested in the boat that had a cat. LaBarque got no birds visiting that evening.

It took us about 24 hours to reach P. Tioman (02.49.051 - 104.09.014), we covered 124 miles off which Mr. Perkins pushed us 100 miles without complaint (during and after), which makes us confident about Kári's last diagnose. Now we only hope he can cure our Mr. Perkins at Johor Bahru as well as curtailing the To-Do-List who seems to be going through a growing spell these days. Kári now meticulously writes every spare part he needs to buy on his mobile in the hope of not forgetting any when ever possible to buy it. It is a shame how difficult it is to find spare parts for boats in Johor Bahru. I am sure that if an entrepreneur sets up a chandlery near Danga Bay he will prove very successful.

The couple on LaBarque are now expecting friends. It was two or three years ago that they got acquainted with a local girl in JB who they got to like better and better as the friendship grew. This is a young successful business woman who likes adventures and after few phone calls and e-mails it was decided now that this girl and her boyfriend fly to P. Tioman on Saturday and sail with LaBarque to Johor Bahru over the weekend.
Kári and I were not enjoying the rocking and rolling on anchor with P. Tioman and therefore decided to go ahead this morning (Oct. 25th), we are now motoring toward P. Tinggi which we have never visited before. If all goes well we hope to be able to explore the island and stay there on anchor for two nights or so before sailing closer to Singapore where we hope to meet LaBarque eventually and go with them the rest of the way to Danga Bay.
