We were born 1952 in the same town Akureyri which is on the north part of Iceland.

Kári has enjoyed boating since he first remembers, although he never worked as a seaman. That in fact is kind of uncanny since we come from a nation that has survived from sea products for centuries and we probably had a higher percentage of sailors in our nation than most other nations.

Kári and his friend bought a hull together when in their twenties and built a small motor boat which among other things they circumnavigated Iceland in.
They participated in one rally on this boat and easily won the rally, and we all thoroughly enjoyed this boat for years.

As we grew older we got less interested in speed and in our late forties we bought a 25 ft English Hunter which took us around Iceland and on few other interesting trips.

By the time we circumnavigated Iceland in the Hunter I was getting more pressure from Kári, who honestly didn't want to sit stuck and wait for old age to come and grab hold while we were still working the same jobs and living in the same house.

We had worked hard for our wonderful house and everything in it, thus it was not easy to assure me that it would be the right thing to get rid of everything and go exploring the world.

In January 2004 I enlisted us in the New York Marathon which was to be run in early November that year. And then it was in March that year that the last youngster moved in with her boyfriend, leaving us alone with Kata in the nest.
Kári of course, saw there an opportunity not to be missed and expertly convinced me that now was the time to sell and give our belongings in order to go exploring the world and keep growing in experience as we grew older.

We did jog the New York Marathon, after which we flew to Florida where we found our beloved Lady Ann, who interestingly enough was the first boat we saw, and after looking at number of other boats came back to and bought.

Now we have lived aboard for three years, we have sailed around half the world, learned new languages, new customs, met number of very interesting people, made many new friends and I do not regret one day of the entire experience that sure has kept us alive and growing
