On the unity of infinite totally interpenetrating all-containing Persons

A two-rhythm draws out;

a three-rhythm gladdens sharply,

comes alive,

returns to itself and outgoes.

The triadic reality lives in itself and outshines.

Augustine’s mind-triads

were to exclude subordering

as intolerant of unity.

Thomas’s verbum spirans amorem

still excluded subordering,

en-powered with more life.

Spirans imposes this

flashing between structure and units.

Must they always divide

between units as man-formed

and structures which link and present?

How to outreach to the gap, its distance?

Units, manlike to be sure,

are good on eye and spirit.

Painters sought to hold them

dimensional and lowered:

aesthetically at home

but strangers to themselves.

Art’s curtain closes:

waits for words’ help.

Some union

of verbal nouns or participles

affixed, prefaced with propositions,

without assonance, true –

but diminished.

The contrast, if it holds,

revealing,

like a metal wedge

hammered home

into a quarry-face.

So, Christic perichoresis,

re-employed.

There it downs on the person,

blending the natures:

keeping the divine as allowed.

But applied to the godhead

it grasped on the nature,

then lost it.

Then, with Johannine certainty,

considered the functioning of the persons alone –

in an embrace

which died the longer it lasted.

Its Latin equivalent,

circuminsessio:[1]

twice propositional –

they incompossible! –

demanded perdurance interminable.

Mind-intriguing;

surrogate for the Greek,

rendered strange

by Latin’s monumentality.

The only possibility

is subliminal,

in a timeflow annulled on both sides:

pointillist,

laminal; but real.

The mind’s not at ease where to go.

But there’s an event,

a precedent,

a human witness who understood.

The rest of us could search into that witness,

fumblingly,

acknowledge her and seek her help.

At the fiat,

or soon after,

the shekinah,

locating the Father,

descended on her.

The Spirit descended in her flesh,

and in less than an instant she conceived.

With the Father

the Son was sending, and sent:

remaining eternal

but new from seeding.

As sending, Oned with the Father;

as sent, new;

yet timelessly sending.

Missioned to fullness by himself and the Spirit.

They together

timelessly One in oikonomia.

But accessible, pictureable, thinkable by the Mother,

and through her by us,

diminshed but true.

[1]  It seems that “perichoresis” was more translated  by “circumincessio” than “circuminsessio”, which took the option of interior movement rather than interior resting, thereby losing an uncommittedness discernable in “indwelling”, better rendered as “circuminsessio”.
