The Eider is the largest of the duck family. As is usual with ducks there is a great deal of visual difference between the sexes. The males have a white back, and a black tail and underside. On the stamps the male is in the foreground
and the duller brown-gray female in the background.
Length is about 63 cms - about 25 inches.
The stamps were issued in 1959
with a face value of 90 aurar and 2 krónur.
