CAR RENTAL TERMS

1. The renter received the vehicle and accessories in perfect condition.
2. All vehicles shall be returned to the same office where they were collected for renting unless a specific agreement has benn made containing a different provision with respect to the subject. Any such agreement shall have been concluded in advance and with due notice.
3. If a renter fails to return this vehicle on time in accordance with the rental agreement stipulations or fails to notify of continued rental the lessor or police is authorized to seize the vehicle and take it into custody without furher notice and entirely at the expense of the renter. Extension of the car rental is subject to the agreement of the lessor.
4. It is not permissible to use the car for the transportation of passengers against payment. Neither can the car be lent or sublent.
5. The renter alone is authorized to drive the car unless he apionts another driver to be approved of in writing be the lessor. The renter is responsible for the driver, whom he appoints and the latter must be at least 22 years of age and he shall in all instances have been in the possession of driver licence for at least one year.
6. The car shall be driven carefully. In case of collision or accident any such occurrence shall be reported instantly to law enforcement authorities and to the lessor. The renter is not to leave the scene of the accident to collision until such action has been taken and after the police has arrived on the scene of the accident.
7. Third party liability insurance is as stipulated by Icelandic law at each time and this also applies to the amount prescribed by law on individual driver liability.
8. The car is covered by comprehensive vehicle insurance. In case of damage to the vehicle the renter shall pay up to IKR 190.000,- on regular passenger car but IKR 260.000,- on a four wheel drive vehicle. These amounts will not be reduced in case of car damage unless the repair charges amount to less than the respctive amounts above specify. By payment of a fixed amount to be determined at each time by the lessor the renter can insure himself against disbursement to the amount of driver liability on the comprehensive vehicle insurance.
9. The renter of the car is totally responsible for any and all damage incurred throghout the use of the car including a damage to the car and or passengers due to:
   1. off road driving, i.e. driving on tails not marked as normal roads on charts.
   2. driving through steams or any kind of waterfall.
   3. wilful action or colossal carelessness.
   4. use of drugs by the driver.
   5. use of the car in contravention ot the provisions of the rental agreement.
10. The lessor is never liable to payment of hotel cost nor any other costs related to or derived from car failure whatever the cause of failure may be.
11. The renter is liable to pay for all parking meter fines an fines for traffic violations.
12. damages to tires, headlights and underside of the car are not covered by the insurance policy.
13. The speedometer and odometer must not be tampered with in any way and failure in either one of these instuments shall be reported instantly to the lessor.
14. The renter shall pay all costs in connection with collation of payment in accordance with the terms of this agreement.
15. All changes or deviations from the provisions og this agreement shall be in writing.
16. In case of legal proceedings arising because of this agreement the renter agrees to having such litigation conducted before the Reykjavik Municipal Court without prior submission to a Board of Cocilliation.

I have studied the terms and conditions contained on front and reverse sides of this agreement and I accept them.
