  Day trip through lava fields along volcanos and deserted farms. To follow the tracks from the people, who lived here in earlier time and the consciounsness of ther form of life. Rest and picnic in this delightful area.

  Seven days trip around the awe-inspiring glacier Snæfellsjökull. Special organized riding tours in this fascinating landscape.

  For example around Mt. Kirkjufell, 2 hrs., beautiful trip at sunset. Also to ride to Eyrarfjall, a historical site, where Steindór a Eyri settled 1000 years ago 6 rhs.

  Here at home is "BRANA", she is one of our best riding horses in Kverná.
  On television they showed the film "NONNI AND MANNI", where you could see our horse "BRANA", called there "GRÁNI".
  The film was made in the Snæfellsnes peninsula near the glacier Snæfelsjökull. The horses has all gaits, it's very willing and good-natured. So you have the possibility of riding our top horses and to enjoy a riding tour in our magnificent and beautifull Icelandic nature.

  There where the people lived in the world of the Sagas. The famous book "KRISTNIHALD UNDIR JÖKLI", written by Halldór Laxnes, tells us about the life here and the landscape. Though this area, the RIDING TOUR will show you not only the mountains and lava, also you will ride along the attractive beach of SNÆFELLS GLACIER.

  Who doesn't know the novel by Jules Verne "Journey to the centre of the earth?" The most interesting part of our riding tour brings us right up to the glacier where the novel tells us, that the jurney begun.

  The riding tour starts at our farm KVERNÁ and visits all the interesting places of Snæfellsnes peninsula.

  Historical trip into the Eyrbyggja Saga, through the lava fields of the Berserkjahraun.
  The lava around the glacier Snæfellsjökull and Búdahraun.

  During the seven days trip the horse traks are mostly on sand coast. It's a wild and attractive landscape, interesting for seals and birds.

  For travellers without a car, excurions can be arranged for example around Snæfellsnes, with the famous glacier Snæfellsjökull. If you wish, the organizer can drive you to different places, where the sagas begun. He will tell very interesting and impressive stories about these wonderful places.

  Pleasant trip along Kverná and its waterfall, 1 hour. To Vatnsborg on Grundarfjall with stop at Kvernasel, then go on to the plateau, 3 1/2 hrs. There is the possibility of fishing in these lakes.
  Walking tour around Mt. Kirkjufell (463m) and from glacial period the very interesting Mt. Stöd (268m) day tours.
  Both these mountains mostly consisting of basalt and showing abrasions from the glacial period, are geologically interesting. There was a period of milder climate between at least two glacial periods. Imprints in the sediments show, that birch trees, alder trees and other plants were growing here in former times.

  Walking tour to Helgrindur, surrounded by mountains nearby the glacier Snæfellsjökull. It is very recommended as a day tour.

  Over Lýsudalsskard (mountain walking tour) down to Lýsudal in Stadarsveit, approx. 5 hrs. Old road over Arnadalsskard to Stadarsveit, also on horseback. This trip takes over 4 hours. You can come back by bus, horses or car. It is also possible to stay there overnight. For these walking tours you can get maps on the farm

  Under idel snow conditions it will be possible to engage in activities such as downhill and crosscountry skiing, including use of the skilift. For children also it is a perfect ski paradise. Our charming surrondings also make extensive walks and horseback excursions inviting.

  If you need a doctor for medicine or a dentist, it's possible in the village.
  Shopping facilities in the pretty fishingvillage Grundarfjördur, heated outside swimming pool and sauna. Car repairs can be arranged.

  It is usually advisable to make bookings for the cottages befor the end of April. The other facilities are normally available at shorter notice, and may be booked by telephone, fax, leter or e-mail.
