Moldnúpur has been owned by the same family from 1901, and fourth generation is now managing it as of 1993. Moldnúpur is a traditional Icelandic farm.

The live stock consist of 35 milking cows, 60 calves, 40 sheeps and 20 horses. The milk production quota is 130.000 liters pr. year.

The size of the land is approximately 120 hectare and there of hayfield 60 hectare, moor and wetland some 60 hectare. Heath grassland is stretching up to the roots of the glacier Eyjafjallajökull. Grain is grown on approximately 7,5 hectare.

The first dwelling house was built in 1926 and the second one in 1965.
The sheepcote and barn were built in 1915, just made out of stone and turf.

Cowshed and barn was built 1950 and with pens adjusted to modern requirements. The Equipment shelter built 1962 and the horse stable 1993.
